Senior Accountant

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for a portfolio of accounting responsibilities, recording journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, involvement in monthly and quarterly reporting as well as assisting in the preparation of the annual budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete revenue coding for certain geographical locations

  • Perform bank reconciliations

  • Oversee accounts receivable process to ensure accuracy and completion

  • Prepare internal monthly reporting by office and monthly expense analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly group reporting requirements

  • Prepare certain month-end general ledger account reconciliations

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget

  • Engage in actions that encourage, reflect and align with PPI’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) commitments to our Advisors, their clients and our employees

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting and financial reporting

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma/certificate in a related field, e.g., Business Administration or Accounting and a professional accounting designation (CPA)

  • Prior industry experience an asset, candidates directly from public practice will also be considered

  • Full cycle accounting knowledge and an analytical mindset to be able to see beyond the numbers

  • Outstanding attention to detail and proven accuracy

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities

  • Effective problem-solving capabilities

  • A self-motivated, results driven individual with the ability to work independently while being committed to functioning as a team player

  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining a professional image and attitude

  • Intermediate+ knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel and Power Query

  • Experience with Dynamics Great Plains or Business Central would be an asset, at a minimum some large ERP system experience is required
