Summer Student, Compliance

The Summer Student, Compliance will provide hands-on support to the Compliance team across a range of regulatory, operational, and administrative activities. This role is designed for a motivated student who is eager to learn, ask questions, and contribute to real compliance work within the Canadian financial services and insurance industry.

Working closely with Compliance professionals, you will assist with research, documentation, process improvement, privacy breaches and stakeholder follow-up—gaining insight into how regulatory requirements are applied in a practical business context.

This is a contract position over the summer term for an expected duration of around 4 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal and regulatory research on insurance, privacy, and compliance-related topics and summarize findings for the Compliance team

  • Assist with documenting, reviewing, and improving compliance processes and procedures

  • Help organize, streamline, and optimize compliance documentation, templates, and reference materials

  • Provide administrative and data entry support to support ongoing compliance activities

  • Assist with managing the Compliance team’s shared mailbox by monitoring inquiries, prioritizing requests, and routing items appropriately

  • Track and follow up on open inquiries and action items with internal teams and other stakeholders

  • Help maintain logs, trackers, and records related to compliance reviews and inquiries

  • Support compliance-related projects and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a university or college program in Law, Accounting, Finance, Business, or another related field

  • Curious and eager to learn about compliance, regulation, and risk management

  • Strong research, organizational, and analytical skills

  • High attention to detail and comfort working with documentation and data

  • Professional, reliable, and discreet, with an understanding of confidentiality

  • Strong written communication skills; bilingualism in French and English is an asset

This role is for a new position. The expected salary range for this position starts at $23 an hour and will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and skill set.
