What you’ll accomplish with us

As an Underwriter, you’ll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:

  • Assess risk on individual life, critical illness, and disability applications to establish appropriate and competitive underwriting decisions.

  • Analyze medical and non-medical information to identify any potential risks and issues.

  • Take a holistic approach in the overall risk assessment.

  • Use underwriting guidelines and procedures to make informed decisions.

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in completing underwriting tasks and processes.

  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to obtain additional information or clarify issues related to underwriting decisions.

  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure efficient execution of administrative processes.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is known for their strong analytical skills and sound judgment.

  • Stands out for their ability to simplify and explain complex concepts.

  • Demonstrates excellent negotiation skills.

  • Is client- and advisor-oriented, with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.

  • Has a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in medical underwriting.

  • Holds a university degree (Bachelor’s); ALU and FLMI designations are assets.

  • Good proficiency in French, both oral and written

  • Intermediate level of English proficiency, as the role involves exchanging information necessary for understanding and processing complex underwriting cases with English-speaking partners in the individual insurance sector, on a weekly basis (30–50% of the time).
