What you’ll accomplish with us

As a Senior Underwriter, you’ll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:

• Analyze complex life, health, and disability cases by applying established underwriting rules.
• Negotiate the best possible offer with reinsurers to ensure competitive, client‑centered outcomes.
• Examine, assess, and propose solutions for more complex files.
• Build and maintain quality relationships with agencies, advisors, the sales force, and reinsurers.
• Perform underwriting audits when required.
• Act as a coach to less experienced underwriters.
• Collaborate with IT teams and Business Analysts as an expert in the implementation of a new underwriting automation system.

What could accelerate your success in this role

We’re looking for someone who:

• Holds a bachelor’s degree or any other relevant academic background.
• Brings 8+ years of experience in individual life underwriting or in a similar role.
• Is recognized for strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to assess medical and non‑medical information to make accurate underwriting decisions.
• Stands out for their ability to negotiate, organize, and manage multiple priorities in a high‑volume environment.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset, delivering high‑quality work under tight deadlines.
• Has an excellent oral and written communication skills in English

The typical hiring range for this position is between 88k and 110k CAD per year; the base salary offered may vary depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity related to the role.
