Several professional development opportunities are available to you. The career of an underwriter offers many challenges and opportunities for progression. This stimulating job is suitable for bilingual people who have analytical skills and like to make decisions. Extensive experience in the field of individual insurance and/or in the medical field is required.
Using established selection standards, the underwriter studies life, disability and critical illness insurance proposals
It assesses the medical and non-medical risk factors, in order to determine the risk category of the insured and make the appropriate decision.
It analyzes the medical and non-medical records of people wishing to obtain this type of protection.
He is responsible for accepting or refusing the insurance request. To do this, he requests various tests to document and analyze the file: blood and urine test, report from the attending physician, etc.
Part of the job is to analyze non-medical risks. These are related to lifestyle habits, for example the consumption of narcotics and alcohol, the practice of hazardous sports, the driving record, the criminal record, the financial evaluation, etc.
Each file being different, the work is varied!
Studies in the field of health, or any other relevant field
At least 2 years of experience in the field (life insurance, critical illnesses, disability)
Spoken and written bilingualism (an asset)
