To maintain PPI’s exacting level of service, we are looking for an Underwriting Analyst, TPA to join our Kitchener or Toronto office.

Underwriting Analyst, TPA

The Underwriting Analyst is an integral member of the TPA team. Working closely with the Sales team and the TPA team, the Underwriting Analyst, TPA is responsible for the provision and promotion of services to support the sales and servicing of PPI Benefits lines of business.


  • Review and analyze prospect groups, preparing requests for quotes, reviewing proposals for accuracy and preparing PowerPoint presentations.

  • Develop and provide fair and accurate pricing for quotes and renewals.

  • Provide pricing and process plan amendments, reviewing booklets/contracts and preparing deliverable reports.

  • Evaluate the appropriateness and competitiveness of employee benefits programs, evaluating plan designs to ensure they are appropriate based on the needs of the plan sponsor.

  • Liaise extensively with other members of the TPA team, identifying process enhancements.

  • Ensure plan design, client and underwriting data, correspondence and reports are entered, maintained and appropriately saved within the Benefits document management system and all workflow is completed in accordance with PPI guidelines.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience in a related capacity within the employee benefits industry

  • TPA experience an asset

  • Proven mathematical and analytical skills

  • Considerable experience in a highly service-oriented role

  • Effective problem solver with initiative to be innovative and creative with developing new ideas and concepts

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships and work within a team environment

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently while being committed to functioning as a team player

  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and responsibilities 

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional, discretionary manner

  • Ability to represent self, office and organization in a professional, positive manner at all times

  • Demonstrated ability to flourish in environments of significant change

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products – Outlook, Word and PowerPoint in particular – and an aptitude and willingness to learn new systems and programs

  • Bilingualism in English and French an asset
