As Assistant Director, IT Solutions Delivery – Property and Casualty Insurance – Development and Production Support, you will contribute directly to the achievement of your sector’s and the organization’s results. Reporting to a Director, you will act as a first‑level manager for your team while being accountable for solution delivery, IT service delivery, and the operational performance of development and production environments.

This role places you at the heart of tactical and operational decision‑making, within a collaborative, people‑focused, and transforming environment.

What you will accomplish with us

As Assistant Director, IT Solutions Delivery – Property and Casualty Insurance, you will be a key contributor to the performance and reliability of IT services. Your main responsibilities will include:

Human Resources Management

  • Oversee the human aspects of managing resources under your responsibility, including engagement, motivation, retention, conflict resolution, and performance or behavioural issues.
  • Actively participate in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Evaluate employee performance in accordance with organizational processes and contribute to compensation review exercises.
  • Define and monitor training plans and career development paths.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that supports skill development and retention of specialized IT talent.

Workload Management

  • Manage all mandates assigned to your unit, including development and production support activities, as well as the associated work plan.
  • Coordinate resource assignments to ensure a balanced and sustainable workload.
  • Support project managers, managers, and portfolio managers in estimating resource requirements.
  • Plan, organize, lead, and control operational activities to meet business needs and expected service levels.
  • Align with IT vice‑presidency managers and organizational stakeholders to ensure consistency in practices and prioritization.

Solution Delivery, Service Provision, and Team Performance

  • Be accountable for the delivery of IT solutions and services provided by your unit, in both development and operational contexts.
  • Ensure the operational performance of solutions, applications, and technologies supporting Property and Casualty Insurance activities.
  • Define strategies, action plans, and activities within your areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and continuous improvement of services to prevent incidents and recurring issues.
  • Ensure compliance with cost, scope, and schedule commitments.
  • Be responsible for result quality, client satisfaction, and resource performance.

Tactical and Operational Responsibilities

  • Act, by delegation, as a tactical and operational IT point of contact for supported Property and Casualty Insurance sectors.
  • Work closely with development teams, operations teams, and IT partners to ensure environment stability and evolution.
  • Manage technical escalations or customer satisfaction issues related to development and production environments.
  • Intervene with other organizational sectors during complex or problematic situations.
  • Support your manager in cost center budget management.
  • Participate in defining annual sector orientations and objectives, and represent your manager in various internal and external forums.

IT Asset Stewardship

  • Ensure the long‑term health and overall performance of systems, applications, technologies, or platforms under your responsibility.
  • Ensure that technical documentation is complete and kept up to date.
  • Manage and prioritize the IT asset evolution roadmap in collaboration with portfolio management teams and business partners.

What could accelerate your success in this role

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 8 years of experience, combining management and information technology experience.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science or another relevant field of equivalent level.
  • Demonstrates strong experience in IT solution delivery, development and production support, and team management.
  • Has a solid understanding of technology environments and delivery practices (e.g., DevOps, Agile, LEAN).
  • Has experience in IT customer service and operational environment management (a strong asset).
  • Demonstrates leadership, autonomy, managerial courage, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Is recognized for the ability to work effectively in complex, multi‑priority environments.
