We are looking for an expert in financial reporting risk monitoring and reporting (Regulation 52-109) to fill the position of Senior Advisor, Internal Controls and Regulation 52-109, within the operational risk management team.
More specifically, your next role and new responsibilities will involve:
Actively participating in oversight programs related to Regulation 52-109, including:
Annual assessments of internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) and disclosure control and procedures (DCP)
The ongoing monitoring program for ICFR and IC
The financial reporting attestation process
Collaborating with business units in implementing the monitoring programs established in relation to Regulation 52-109
Preparing accountability reports and presenting them to the appropriate governance bodies
Actively contributing to the design, implementation, and improvement of internal control initiatives and programs (second line of defense), including the tools necessary for their effective management
Assess, as a second line of defense, the design of internal controls relating to financial reporting, including those for fraud prevention and detection, to ensure the robustness of first-line practices
Contribute to the development of annual internal control monitoring programs
Ensure consistency, based on established standards, of internal control management practices and methods used by business units and support functions
Contribute to the production of reports on key issues and trends in the internal control profile for management
Represent the internal control team at internal and external committees or activities
Advise and guide team members and foster harmonious relationships with other risk management partners (TDSI, compliance, financial crime, etc.) as well as business partners
Participate in any mandate where your expertise is required
Raise awareness and mobilize partners around best practices in risk management and promote a risk culture within the Group
We are looking for someone who:
Holds a bachelor's degree in accounting or another relevant field (CPA or CIA designation an asset)
Has at least 5 to 10 years of experience relevant to the position
Has in-depth knowledge of financial practices and concepts, as well as insurance-related processes (IFRS 17 and IFRS 9)
Has a good understanding of Regulation 52-109 or equivalent (SOX)
Is familiar with industry standards: COSO 2013, COBIT
Has an excellent understanding of internal control
Has advanced knowledge of English (spoken and written), as the person will be required to frequently audit and communicate with American and English-speaking teams.
Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships
Ability to work in a changing environment
Autonomy, leadership, and ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, analysis tools, and data management tools Knowledge of program/project management (an asset).
