Description

We are looking for a detail oriented and analytical Accounting Technician to join our Dealer Services Accounting team to provide support with financial reporting and other accounting related activities. You will be joining a dynamic team and gain valuable experience with Insurance products.

Please note that this role will be for a one year contract.

Description

1. Financial Reporting

  • Support other members of the team in maintaining the general ledger for financial reporting

  • Liaise with Dealer Services Actuarial Department on valuation matters.

  • Assist in the financial and customer reporting for various reinsurance and profit sharing arrangements.

  • Ensure the accuracy of system-produced monthly and quarterly statements; prepare customized

  • statements. Direct the preparation and distribution of payments to dealers and reinsurance companies.

  • Assist in receivables management and collection for various line of business

  • Liaise with corporate accounting department and auditors on financial reporting matters and with Dealer Services actuarial on regulatory filings.

2. Banking activity

  • prepare wire payment template

  • process wire payments on line

  • reconcile daily banking activities.

3. Reinsurance and product valuation

  • Prepare product valuation & journal entry

  • Prepare reinsurance valuation & journal entry

  • Verifying the accuracy of system reports

4. Account reconciliation and Compliance Test

  • Create and maintain account reconciliations in conjunction with other Dealer Services Accounting and Administration staff.

  • Assist to maintain internal audit and compliance documentation and perform regular testing of controls as required

5. Ad Hoc Requests

The Dealer Services Accounting department is changing and growing, so the duties as outlined in the description above are subject to change.  Some tasks may be combined, or new ones added, in order to better suit the role of this area.  However the level of expertise required should stay much the same through any re-evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Accounting diploma or university degree in Commerce, business administration or mathematics

  • Currently enrolling a credited accounting program

  • 2 or more years of accounting or insurance industry experience (such as group creditor insurance and/or property & casualty insurance). Familiar with Account reconciliation processes, IFRS standards and banking knowledge would be an asset

  • Intermediate levels with Microsoft Excel, MS Access, and MS Word, Oracle (ERP Cloud)

  •  Well-developed analytical and interpersonal skills

  • The commitment to prepare and report accurate information within the constraints of tight reporting deadlines

  • Ability to multitask, respond quickly to special requests for information, and re-establish priorities

  • Being a team player with good interaction skill

  • Bilingual ( French/English) is an asset
