As a Director – Major Losses, you will play a key role in managing major loss claims, driving continuous improvement in indemnity processes, and providing strategic leadership to a team of experts.

What you will accomplish with us

As a Director – Major Losses, you will be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of Major Loss and Out‑of‑Province experts to ensure efficient claims resolution

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve highly complex technical, operational, and organizational issues

  • Influence team performance in terms of quality, cost control, and timelines

  • Make decisions based on policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan

  • Implement a performance management system tailored to the sector’s operational needs

  • Optimize resource allocation based on expertise and case complexity

  • Recruit, develop, and support succession planning within the team

  • Manage issues related to indemnity processes and evolving best practices

  • Collaborate with internal leaders to optimize claims resolution processes and reduce costs

  • Monitor innovative practices in major loss and out‑of‑province claims management

  • Manage partnerships with independent adjusting firms and negotiate agreements

  • Provide technical support to experts handling complex files

  • Serve as a reference point for litigated cases and handle certain complaint files

  • Approve payments in high‑cost or complex claims

  • Ensure regulatory compliance of indemnity processes

What could accelerate your success in this role

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has 15 years of experience in claims, including 5 years in team management

  • Holds experience as a field adjuster (highly valued asset)

  • Is recognized for strong, mobilizing leadership and the ability to unite a team around a shared vision

  • Excels in analysis and decision‑making in complex contexts

  • Demonstrates great rigor, autonomy, and a strong sense of responsibility

  • Is known for excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Has an intermediate/advanced level of English, as the person will be required to communicate with unilingual English‑speaking employees, collaborators, and external partners in the context of out‑of‑province files, on a regular basis
