Position Summary

Senior Accountants are responsible for performing complex accounting needs in all accounting areas including but not limited to AO Accounting, Insurance Accounting, Controllership, Treasury and Accounting Operations.  This includes reviewing financial data to aid in making forecasting decisions and communicating with company leaders about financial strategies.

This position provides team support, resolution of complex issues, implement standards and approaches, support planning, and support internal and/or external client relationships.  Senior Accountants work closely with other Accounting staff to reconcile accounts and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. This position may also be responsible for training new Accounting team members.

Essential Duties 

  • Responsible for company(s) financial procedures, records and reporting for compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries for administration, insurance, obligor, and non-obligor business.
  • Reconciliations of Intercompany entries.
  • Monthly reconciliation between processing systems and general ledger to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Perform account analysis on general ledger to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare documentation for external Auditors.
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies.
  • Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Prepares financial statements for multiple companies on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Records and reconciles monthly bank statements to trust reconciliations for multiple companies.
  • Prepare and analyze reconciliation of receivables and payable for multiple companies.
  • Maintain financial reports (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow etc.).
  • Serves as an expert resource in all areas of the department to aid in answering questions.

Education, Work Experience and Training Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • Six to eight years of accounting work experience.
  • Experience within the insurance or service contract industry preferred.
  • Strong computer/MS Office skills; plus, ability to learn other software systems quickly.

  • Work is sedentary in nature and is performed in a traditional office environment with cubicles. Typically, the incumbent will sit comfortably while performing the work, with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items, such as papers, books, and files. Other physical demands in performing the essential functions of this position include digital dexterity, hearing, seeing, and talking. Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, cope with stress, adapt, and stay alert in a business environment. No business travel required.
