Description

Under the direction of the Director, Underwriting and New Business, the Underwriting Client Services staff act as the key point of communication for both internal staff and external clients in relation to underwriting process inquiries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. CLIENT RELATIONS
• Provide responses to all inquiries brought to the underwriting inbox and phone line
• Handles approx. 70- 90 incoming emails from both external and internal clients daily
• Update Life Underwriting System requirements from emails and/or phone calls when necessary

2. PROCESSING
• Review Attending Physician Statement (APS) status reports daily
• Follow up on outstanding APS & Authorization
• Review Medical Information Bureau (MIB) code report daily
• Send and request medical information as needed

3. MISCELLANEOUS
• Prepare and process underwriter’s outgoing correspondence
• When needed, provide back up coverage for the VIP Coordinator
• Provide support to all underwriting consultants when required
•Provide support to NB Team to maintain Service standard if required (handling emails…)
•Work with other service center (Quebec and Toronto) to dispatch work

Qualifications

• High school diploma; post-secondary education in business would be an asset
• Minimum of 2 years in an administrative or customer service role in a fast-paced office environment
• Previous experience in life insurance administration or underwriting would be considered a strong asset
• LOMA 280 and 290, working towards an FLMI designation
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Efficiently utilizes tact and diplomacy in order to explain decisions and communicate contentious information while maintaining good rapport with clients
• Good customer service skills with a focus on relationship building and business retention
•Facilitator ability to help the team achieve the goals
• Detail oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Proactive and willing to take initiative; willingness to learn
