Reporting to the General Manager for Western Canada, the incumbent acts as a senior financial consultant and team leader. The team leader is responsible for all aspects of the business unit for the Calgary area and Western Canadian Region.

What will I be doing?
The position is dynamic and varied. We’re looking for someone who will provide superior service to our corporate clients while building long-term relationships. Someone who is an engaging presenter, passionate about financial planning and technically qualified to assist our clients. The core functions of this position are:
• managing corporate client relationships
• program development and management
• program delivery: financial planning and education
• marketing and business development

In the client relationship function, you’ll need to maintain regular contact with our corporate clients and monitor their feedback on our program delivery. You’ll be their primary point of contact for client requests, concerns and issue resolution. You’ll be an escalation point for other team members.

As a financial planner and educator, you’ll deliver in-person seminars and online webinars on financial planning topics, to the employees of our corporate clients. You’ll assist employees on a one-on-one basis; from targeted counselling sessions to complete personalised, written retirement plans. Service delivery may require travel to our clients’ offices or facilities in Western Canada – mostly within the province of Alberta.
As the program manager, you’ll be required to have an in-depth understanding of the benefits and retirement/savings plans of our corporate clients. In addition, you’ll need to stay informed on all aspects of financial planning – including estate, tax and pension regulations – and develop an in-depth knowledge of employer pensions and benefits. You’ll also be responsible for creating and editing training materials and program content, including our online tools and resources.

The marketing and business development function will require you to grow the business unit’s revenue. This will include developing proposals, meeting with key personnel at prospective clients (corporations) and having a presence at industry events to increase the visibility of the company.

This role primarily focuses on client facing responsibilities and financial planning; you won’t be required to perform a significant number of corporate tasks (human resources or administration).

What will I need to be successful?
You’ll need to quickly become familiar with each’s client’s retirement plans services we provide. Your learning capacity and ability to synthesize information will be paramount to your early success. Managing your availability for client contact (in-person), in addition to your other responsibilities, will be a challenging component of the role. Utilizing your (exceptional) time management skills will be essential to your long-term success.

• CFP designation
• R.F.P. designation is preferred
• 5+ years of financial planning in a consulting environment
• experience presenting in-person seminars and online webinars
• background or experience with pensions, in a financial planning context
• business development experience, would be an asset
• excellent presentation skills; dynamic and able to engage all audiences
• detail oriented
• creative approach to solutions and problem solving
• ability to engage clients and build rapport
• exceptional time management skills
• ability to work independently and collaboratively, within a team
• proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel
