Here’s what you need to take into consideration to make sure your home insurance is providing the coverage you need when changes arise.
Are you working from home?
More and more of us are working from home these days. Did you know that equipment provided by your employer is usually covered by your employer?
If you’ve acquired equipment to do your job, insurance policies usually provide a basic amount of coverage for this equipment. For example, at iA Auto and Home Insurance the amount is $2,000.
Also, if you’re not moving your vehicle as much as before, think about taking it out once in a while to prevent any problems. For example, if you don’t run your car for a long time, the battery might be drained when you need to use it.
Are you studying at home?
Are you doing virtual school in the comfort of your home and have some new equipment (computer, monitor, etc.)? Don’t worry, this equipment is covered under your home insurance up to the maximum provided under your policy.
Have you recently made some renovations?
Many people have found that being at home more has provided an opportunity to do some renovations. If you’ve made major improvements to your home, make sure that the rebuilding cost indicated in your policy is adequate. For example, if you renovated your kitchen with better-quality materials, this can result in an increase in your rebuilding cost.
