As the first quarter comes to a close, our chief economist, Clément Gignac, draws a highly positive portrait of the global economic foundation. Not only should the impressive timing of growth continue in industrialized countries, but the major players like Japan and Europe finally seem to be showing signs of prosperity. However, it is important to be cautious, as the spectre of protectionism hangs over our heads and could abruptly change everything. With respect to the stock markets, Clément Gignac anticipates a positive, but volatile year, and favours an active style of management. As for the bond market, the story is not as rosy, as the bull market, which has endured for several decades, has probably ended.
