Senior Manager, Data Process, Modelling & Governance
The Senior Manager, Data Process, Modelling & Governance is responsible for the strategy, execution, and end-to-end management of the business data model. The Senior Manager, Data Process, Modelling & Governance is a pivotal role in governing the business data model including data glossary, standards, policies, and procedures.
Collaborating with Journey Owners and Product Owners, the Senior Manager, Data Process, Modelling & Governance is responsible to develop a framework to understand the levers that drive a successful data driven client, advisor and employee experience. He is also responsible to deliver in-depth analysis and recommendations to drive the data roadmap and to input into company-wide systems, generating incremental business value.
The data journey is defined as the end to end process from data governance and data definition to the operationalization of the data including the identification of the sources of truth and the definition of the business rules. Key Accountabilities include:
Data Strategy, Data Glossary and Data Governance
- As Data Steward support and develop business data governance programs and activities for iA Private Wealth
- Working with partners, define and maintain metadata repositories (data dictionary, business glossary) and data classification process (identification of sensitive data) and business rules
- Support and help drive forward iA Private Wealth Data Governance policy and procedures
- Develop the business roadmap including execution of tactical activities where needed
- Lead governance and oversight of LOB data management activities, such as identification of critical data and critical data elements, metadata management, data quality tasks and data retention and disposition
- Craft, communicate and deliver a holistic strategy for the data governance / management function, integrated with the overall business strategy and in alignment with the Enterprise Data Strategy, Policy and Standards
- Executing data management and reconciliation processes to protect the validity of iA Private Wealth data
- Review, facilitate and implement the ongoing development and improvement of data processes
- Work with business partners to monitor data quality and implement data policy standards
- Reduce data duplication/replication, streamline data flows and allow flexible access to business data
- Promote and abide by the data governance policy of iA Financial Group
- Govern and provide oversight of data under their stewardship, acting as a focal point for data governance
- Lead workstreams to develop, communicate and build holistic data governance strategy and processes
- Review, monitor and escalate data risks and issues and provide advice and support to business partners in development and implementation of action plans for issue resolution
- Deliver training, tools, and advice to support the governance and oversight of data
- Lead the Business Data Governance council
Operational Processes and Programs
- Establish, implement, and document governance processes for managing data, and build awareness on key data topics across iA Private Wealth
- Identify, analyze, and resolve data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness to support business reporting requirements and contribute to group-wide projects, including technology and business projects, contributing innovative thinking and analysis
- Support change management activities around projects or initiatives undertaken – ensure clear communication of new processes
- Provide data governance expertise to support projects, ensuring projects meet required data governance and management policies and standards
- Ensuring appropriate controls and processes are in place, developed and maintained
- Review and recommend changes for standardization of position data integrity functions
- Metrics review and reporting
- Report / escalate issues or identified process gaps
- Lead relationships with key business, enterprise and control partners providing data governance expertise, and leads on day-to-day data governance activities
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Promote consistency, quality, integrity, and accessibility of shared data and information across iA Private Wealth
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve data accuracy and ensure that data owners are accountable for data quality
- Build awareness on key data topics, including facilitation of business alignment
- Develop materials and conduct training on data governance best practices
Skills include:
Good understanding of data governance principles, enjoy working with varied stakeholders are possesses the following:
- 10+ years relevant experience specifically in Wealth Management business data.
- Solid understanding of data governance principles and an understanding of data risk and data management
- Strong understanding of the Wealth Management industry trends and regulatory environment with a strategic mindset
- Ability to independently engage with senior leaders, and influence without direct authority, providing guidance and thought leadership on data governance activities
- Planning and organizational skills with a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities, ability to manage functional programs independently
- Experience with working in both a technical and business context is an asset; able to translate business concepts into easy-to-understand technical language
- A team player with the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team with a proven track record of delivering results by demonstrating the ability to take independent action
- An understanding of data architecture would be an asset
- Lead by example and have strong judgment and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Strong communication, effective writing and influencing skills
- Highly motivated and organized with strong focus on quality of deliverables
- Exhibits and encourages a positive and proactive approach toward change and ongoing development
- Must have the ability to change direction quickly with a strong understanding of change management
- Strong Analytical, Logical and Organizational skills
- Ability to deal with and influence individuals at all levels of the organization, along with vendors and consultants
