To maintain PPI’s exacting level of service, we are looking for an Underwriter and Customer Care Representative to join our Montreal, Quebec City or Kitchener office.
Underwriter and Customer Care Representative
Working closely with the Sales team, the Underwriter and Customer Care Representative is responsible for the provision and promotion of services to support the sales and servicing of Agile and PPI Benefits lines of business including underwriting of an assigned block of business, from prospect to inforce, meeting workflow deadlines. The Underwriter and Customer Care Representative provides day-to-day service to advisors, consultants and clients within their specific region.
Review and analyze prospect groups: prepare request for quotes, reviewing proposals for accuracy, and prepare PowerPoint presentations.
Provide fair and accurate pricing for quotes and renewals.
Process plan amendments, review booklets/contracts and prepare deliverable reports.
Evaluate the appropriateness and competitiveness of employee benefit programs and evaluate plan design to ensure appropriateness based on the plan sponsor’s needs.
Liaise extensively with other members of the TPA and PPI Benefits teams and identify process enhancements.
Ensure plan design and client data is maintained and workflow is completed in accordance with PPI requirements. Ensure all correspondence, reports and relevant underwriting data is appropriately saved within the Benefits document management system.
Perform third party administrative (TPA) functions to administer the enrollment and setup of new accounts and provide ongoing support to plan sponsors, Benefits Consultants and advisors.
Coordinate and administer benefits plan with all insurers on behalf of plan sponsor, including new hires, change of coverage, changes or amendments to the policy.
Prepare Employee Welcome Kits for new plan sponsors.
Facilitate the resolution of any issues with carriers such as billing or coverage requests on behalf of plan sponsor.
Provide all concerned parties with status and follow up reports related to applications and in-force policies, including updating internal database management systems.
Maintain the document management process, records and files.
Review new business opportunities to ensure completion of required documents and input client, advisor and benefit plan information in the Workflow Management System.
Prepare new business opportunity checklists for review by underwriting.
Coordinate missing information with national sales team; follow-up for details.
Coordinate and prepare presentation material for quotes, work with Underwriter to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepare Critical Illness quotes.
Prepare experience reports.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Bilingualism, both written and verbal, in English and French is required
Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in a related capacity within the employee benefits industry required
TPA experience is preferred
Proven mathematical and analytical skills
Considerable experience in a highly service-oriented role
Effective problem solver with initiative to be innovative and creative with developing new ideas and concepts
Exemplary interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships
Excellent time management skills with proven ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks and move between projects continuously
