Description

As part of the national Disability Service Center team, the litigation specialist will manage a set of litigation and contentious cases in partnership with iA Financial Group's legal department and external lawyers. They also support professionals, representatives, and clients of the Service Center by providing advice on managing complex cases and answering questions.

As a litigation specialist, you would be responsible for:

  • Conducting in-depth analyses of all litigation cases and recommending appropriate resolutions;
  • Working with legal partners to manage litigation cases to resolution;
  • Representing the company during discoveries, mediations, arbitrations, and trials;
  • Representing the company in Small Claims Court (Quebec only);
  • Promoting adherence to best practices in decision-making and disability management;
  • Participating on committees, participating in projects, and performing other tasks as needed;
  • Liaising between the Sales Department and associated services regarding inquiries and legal cases;
  • Assisting other disability specialists as needed;
  • Managing access to information requests;
  • Assisting colleagues with lump-sum offers.

Desired Profile:

  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in functions related to managing disability insurance claims in the group insurance field;
  • In-depth knowledge of contracts;
  • Extensive knowledge of disability management and related tools;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Autonomy and ability to manage tight deadlines;
  • Advanced level of French as the person will need to respond to calls, emails, handle cases, produce summaries, and attend meetings with our internal and French-speaking clients 40% of the time;
  • LOMA and NIDMAR courses, an asset.

12-month contract with the possibility of extension.
