iA Investment Management (iAIM) is iA Financial Group’s largest portfolio management division. It manages assets comprised of general funds of insurance companies, segregated funds, mutual funds and managed accounts valued at over $60 billion.

The position is responsible for the compliance oversight of iAIM’s investment activities.  The CCO will provide support to the investment teams in the development and implementation of action plans. The CCO is responsible for managing programs to meet target dates required by regulation and/or business units as well as maintaining and updating controls over product, processes and approvals.

This position requires a senior level compliance professional with deep knowledge and AMF/Canadian securities regulatory experience to proactively build and support a strong regulatory control framework. The position interfaces with executive management and senior counterparts in Operations, Legal, and Finance.   

What will you do?

  • Establish and update compliance policies and procedures as required to ensure that iAIM is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations

  • Develop and maintain tools and systems to improve compliance detection

  • Review legal advice and provide opinions to iAIM management on matters pertaining to its business, and implement appropriate action by coordinating with staff and external advisors

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners, industry associations, and, as appropriate, regulators. Interact and communicate frequently with senior management across iAIM and affiliates to understand business needs and opportunities, to assess and articulate regulatory risks associated with existing and/or new business activities, and to provide a framework to enable well-informed business decisions relative to regulatory risks

  • Conduct investigations, coordinate fact gathering, and provide response for periodic regulatory inquiries

  • Advise, direct, develop and deliver compliance education based on iAIM’s needs

What will you bring?

  • Undergraduate degree

  • Canadian Securities Institute derivatives course

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in investment management compliance, regulatory risk management, or similar oversight function. Experience in the oversight of mutual funds, segregated funds, derivatives and complex investment instruments is required

  • Must meet the proficiency requirements, as set out in National Instrument 31-103, to be registered as a Chief Compliance Officer

  • Strong analytical skills: must be able to work with large amounts of data to make effective and supportable recommendations and decisions

  • Excellent organization, presentation, and communication (verbal and written) skills are required. Must have advanced knowledge of both French and English

  • An ability to work independently under pressure in a time-constrained environment

  • An ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships amongst team members and throughout the firm

  • A customer service orientation with a focus on providing effective solutions
