Description

Reporting to the Director, Underwriting and New Business, the Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the New Business Team ensuring the team delivers a high level of service to our clients and partners across Canada.
The Team Leader coordinates and participates in the DMS meetings encouraging team members to share challenges in meeting team goals and to bring forward improvement ideas. The Team Leader participates in meetings to harmonize processes across three service centres and deliver a consistent client experience to our clients across Canada. The Team leader is also involves in the daily operation.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The team leader fosters a positive, collaborative work environment providing constructive, actionable feedback to team members. The team leaders provides ongoing training and support on changes in procedures, products, and best working practices. The team leader identifies, develops, recommends, and maintains a training program and tools for new and existing employees to stay current in their knowledge and development of skills. The team leader performs a quality check of transactions made by members of the team to meet the requirements of sound business practices.
The team leader gives direction and support to team members daily by monitoring workflow, assessing priorities, and deploying staff appropriately to ensure sufficient resources are available so that service standards and commitments are met on a regular basis and with a high level of accuracy. The team leader oversees all tasks and approves disbursements within applicable limits.
The team leader uses tact and diplomacy to foster and promote good relationships with our distribution partners. The team leader explains or clarifies policy procedures to clients, distribution partners and employees. When called for, the team leader approves exceptions to normal procedures. The team leader analyses complex cases and complaints on time, negotiating mutually satisfactory solutions while respecting Company guidelines.

Qualifications

• General College Degree Diploma and 5 years’ insurance industry experience or 5 to 8 years’ industry experience and at least 3 years in New Business.
• Servant leader with the ability to guide, motivate, and coach team members
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to negotiate and persuade
• Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills
• Responds positively under pressure in a changing environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with MS Suite of products
• Solid knowledge of individual insurance products
