What you'll accomplish with us
As an Underwriter, you'll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:
- Assess risks related to disability, life insurance, and critical illness insurance applications to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Analyze medical and non-medical information to identify potential risks and concerns.
- Apply a holistic approach when assessing overall risk.
- Use underwriting guidelines and procedures to make sound underwriting decisions.
- Ensure accuracy and timely completion of underwriting tasks and processes.
- Communicate with internal and external clients, as well as stakeholders, to obtain additional information or clarify issues related to underwriting decisions.

We're looking for someone who:
- Is known for their strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Stands out for their ability to analyze case files, including medical reports, to accurately assess risk and make underwriting decisions.
- Demonstrates strong ability to manage high volumes of work while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining high quality standards.
- Is recognized for their client- and advisor-focused mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Has a minimum of 2 years of underwriting experience in the individual disability insurance field, along with experience in individual life insurance and critical illness insurance.
- Intermediate level of English proficiency, as the role involves communicating daily with English-speaking clients and partners across Canada through emails and phone calls.
