JOB PURPOSE:

The Chief Advisor, Insights, Financial & Risk Management Performance, iA Wealth is a pivotal role within our organization, tasked with two primary hybrid mandates: supporting the team’s business strategies to drive growth and bridging the Wealth Sector and Corporate Finance Office by translating actions and deliverables.

This position is not only responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strategic financial management, operational efficiency, and a deep understanding of technology budgets and KPI management, but also plays a critical role in collaborating with Wealth’s 3 LOB’s in identifying, monitoring, and mitigating financial risks.

As a financial connector and risk strategist, you will play a key role in shaping the company’s strategic direction through insightful performance analysis, reporting, and risk management. By fostering a culture of data analytics and risk awareness, you will contribute to the company’s resilience and adaptability in a dynamic economic landscape. This role reports directly to the EVP, Wealth, with a matrixed reporting line to the VP, Corporate Actuarial Service, and will lead a small, dedicated financial analysis team with a strong focus on risk evaluation and mitigation strategies.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supporting the Wealth Sector:

  • Strategic Communication: Direct the narrative for board communications, aligning financial outcomes with the company’s strategic and growth goals.

  • Partnership Development: Build strategic relationships with executives to enhance their units via proactive analysis, risk management, and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Financial Cohesion: Collaborate with CFOs and Presidents within the Wealth Line of Business to synchronize financial data.

  • Metrics Enhancement: Improve reporting on key metrics, such as workforce analysis, to refine resource distribution and facilitate strategic decisions.

  • Analysis and Influence: Deliver analyses and projections that guide senior leadership in making strategic, value-driven company decisions.

  • Planning Optimization: Refine planning instruments and processes to aid in budgeting, forecasting, and financial outlooks.

  • Growth Support: Spearhead process enhancements and provide targeted analyses to bolster Wealth’s expansion.

Supporting EVP, Wealth on Strategic Market Intelligence and Enterprise

Strategy:

  • Market Analysis: Offer insights on market dynamics, technological advancements, and competitive landscapes to inform iA Wealth’s strategic positioning.

  • Executive Advisory: Engage with top executives to provide counsel on immediate and long-term strategic matters.

  • Strategic Leadership: Jointly lead the strategic planning and analysis, offering insights and guiding senior leaders on strategic initiatives and execution plans.

  • Relationship Building: Establish robust partnerships with iAFG and iA Wealth leaders to influence decisions and align strategies for revenue and profit growth.

  • Organizational Insight: Supply insights for significant shifts in strategy, including mergers and acquisitions.

  • Data-Driven Strategies: Utilize data insights to anchor recommendations and strategies.

  • Strategy Translation: Convert strategic visions into actionable projects, coordinating with IT for implementation.

  • Strategic Contributions: Provide evaluations to support business case development managed by IT.

Support the activities conducted by the CFO corporate teams:

  • Facilitate collaboration across different segments of the CFO sector, including the production of financial information, assessment of product profitability, and financial health examination, ensuring synergy with the sector team.

  • Provide support to the external auditor or peer review work.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Coordinate with the iA Wealth line of business to ensure integrated and continuous risk management and compliance, using structured and consistent processes to identify, assess, manage and control risks and their impact on activities and results, and ensure those initiatives and reporting are aligned within all Wealth line of businesses.

  • Responsible for following-up with each iA Wealth line of business to objectively monitor sector operations and ensuring application, adherence, and efficacy of the risk management framework, including compliance.

  • Responsible for communication with and accountability to the Chief Compliance Officers and the Chief Risk Officer.

  • Has a functional relationship with the Chief Compliance Officers, who are involved in setting objectives for the compliance function.

  • Maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, acting as a sector representative, and keep up to date with the requirements in force as well as those in development.

Leadership:

  • Develop, coach and mentor Financial Analysts

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Qualifications:

  • MBA or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the wealth management industry working with top-tier firms across regulatory bodies, business models and market-leading products & services

Experience:

  • Experience in strategic planning and demonstrated consistent, timely and impactful delivery of business solutions through major corporate initiatives

  • Project management experience, providing strategic leadership for multiple programs simultaneously in a cross-functional business

  • Experience in risk management, compliance and/or governance

  • Strong track record in successful business transformation and turnaround

  • The aptitude and ability to deal with issues at a high strategy level as well as at a detailed, ‘hands-on’, production level.

  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical/ problem-solving skills and an ability to provide clear and concise direction in a positive and effective manner.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with superior ability to make things happen through the use of impact and influence.

  • An advanced level of knowledge of the English and French language is required for daily communication (written and oral) with external clients, regulatory bodies and advisors in Canada.
