Description

iA Financial Group's Dealer Services division is looking for a Team Lead in the Accounting department. You will have the opportunity to improve the processes, mobilize employees towards the achievement of common objectives and engage in the development of their skills.

PURPOSE

  • Reporting to the Director, Dealer Services Accounting, the Team Lead partners across internal teams and business partners, to coordinate and facilitate day to day accounting activities, provide financial information and analysis, and lead accounting projects for iA Dealers Services.

  • The successful candidate is a team player and must be procedure-driven to ensure continuous improvement while maintaining high professional standards within the accounting department and delivering on objectives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting and Controls

  • Ensure through supervision, the monthly closing for iA Dealers Services. Liaise with Dealer Services Actuarial to ensure the records are complete, accurate and timely; coordinate corrective actions as required.

  • Monitor the timely completion of account reconciliations and the accuracy of the general ledger, including integration of sub systems with the general ledger.

  • Oversee payment schedules to ensure that clients and business partners are paid correctly and in a timely fashion. Validate payment received from 3rd parties.

  • Lead preparation of interim and year-end audit schedules and coordinate team efforts to ensure timely completion.

 Financial Information and Analysis

  • Provide various financial analysis and reports as required by senior management and other stakeholders.

  • Review accuracy of external reporting and correspondence.  

Process Improvement and Project Management

  • Manage or coordinate some accounting projects including; accounting policy and procedures, accounting models and valuation, tax and compliance.

  • Implement action plan in response to internal audit recommendations.

  • Continuously review, improve, document accounting and control procedures.

  • Carry out accounting process improvement projects to achieve efficiency and quality gains.

  • Plan schedules based on priorities and ensuring the availability of resources.

  • Ensure all process mapping documentation is up-to-date and foster cross training within the team.

  • Work with team members to find creative solutions that address the cause of operational incidents and control deficiencies.

  • Team player with a strong emphasis on guidance, support, team mentoring and development.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • CPA professional accounting designation

  • Previous experience in insurance and reinsurance

  • A minimum of 5 years related accounting experience

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, market-driven environment, juggling multiple initiatives, re-establishing priorities on a continuous basis.

  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to solve problem independently.

  • Proficiency to advanced levels with Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience working with Oracle ERP and Hyperion.

  • Good knowledge of iA Dealer Services an advantage.
