COVID-19: Update of our short-term disability management practices
We have recently updated our short-term disability management practices to better reflect the changing epidemiological situation and public health measures across the country.
Specifically, effective January 15, 2022:
- The waiting period is once again being applied, in accordance with the terms of the contract; the application of this period had been waived at the beginning of the pandemic.
- COVID-19 claims are now processed like those for any other illness.
- Eligibility for short-term disability benefits remains conditional on the insured person's inability to work, even remotely.
The frequently asked questions (FAQ) document for group insurance plan members, which provides details on travel, medical, drug and disability insurance coverage, has been updated.
