What is xConnect?

This solution simplifies the management of members' data and group plan eligibility through automated exchange between payroll or Human Resources information systems (HRIS) and our systems.

It’s flexible enough to adapt to the specifics of each plan and reduces the administrative work involved by eliminating certain tasks or making them more efficient.

In addition to reducing the administrative burden, the integration of these systems provides better quality and integrity of plan member data.

Available xConnect services

xConnect is a modular solution with several functionalities that help streamline the daily management of group retirement savings and/or group insurance plan data.

Contribution remittances can be automated by sending data directly from the payroll system. With this process, no time spent collecting and uploading the information and no risk of manual entry error.

Some plan sponsors allow members to select and modify their contribution rate in My Client Space, (secure member website). In such plans, xConnect automatically sends the rates and/or contribution amounts to your payroll system to automatically update the payroll deductions.

Some plan sponsors enable members to invest their bonuses and/or commissions in their group plan. This feature allows members to elect their bonus/commission amounts in My Client Space (secure member website). At the end of each election period, xConnect automatically collects the data submitted by members and sends it to your payroll provider or HRIS system.

This service allows your HR information system to directly transfer to iA Financial Group data such as:

  • Member employment status (death, termination, retirement, etc.)
  • Updates to members’ personal information

As an option, xConnect offers eligibility management, which simplifies your plan administration work while boosting member enrolment and engagement. It enables:

  • Automatic detection and validation of employee plan eligibility
  • Automatic sending of an enrolment kit containing necessary enrolment information -
  • Simple enrolment process for eligible or soon-to-be eligible employees
  • Reports on plan members and missing information

This service allows your HR information system to directly transfer to iA Financial Group data such as:

  • Member employment status (disability, death, termination, retirement, etc.)
  • Employment information updates (hire date, location, etc.)
  • New hire information - Benefit coverage changes
  • Optional: dependent information
  • Can be combined with group retirement savings employee demographic data service

General requirements and notes

  • Regardless of the type of xConnect service integration, you must dedicate one IT resource to implementation, and one HR resource to support the project.
  • Depending on the chosen xConnect services, the timing and duration of the integration process may vary. Should further development be required from iA Financial Group or the payroll provider, fees may apply.

The cost, if applicable, will depend on the type of integration and format required. It will be estimated and communicated to you before integration starts. Payroll providers may also charge fees to implement the solution.

Standard iA Financial Group file formats are jSon, XML and txt. CSV files are also accepted. Other formats may be accepted upon verification.

  • API connection is recommended, when possible, as it is the best security approach. Files can also be uploaded to an SFTP server (Okiok for iA Financial Group, or any other SFTP server hosted by the client).
  • No real data is used during the testing phase, which is carried out using mock data provided by the client. Real data is required only for data reconciliation and service activation.
  • Files should be encrypted; iA Financial Group provides the client with a public PGP key.
