Some recommendations when you drive someone else's car
- Before taking the keys to a friend’s or family member’s vehicle, make sure you understand the automobile insurance policy covering the car.
- At minimum, there must be civil liability coverage and the driver must have a valid driver's licence.
- If you’re in an accident while driving someone else's car, what happens next often depends on who is at fault.
- For added peace of mind, it’s best to have rental and borrowed vehicle coverage as part of your auto insurance policy before you rent or borrow a car!
