Corporate Development / telework / Québec / Montréal / Toronto

Reporting to the vice-president Corporate development, the Strategic Business Development Expert will work closely with the senior management of the company by articulating a vision for our business development efforts and working with subject matters experts across the organization in order to achieve our growth objectives.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and identify new potential markets for the company to enter, which may involve:
  • Adjacent markets to iA’s current business
  • New markets iA is not already active in
  • New geographies iA is not already active in
  • Niches that exist within our markets that are underserved
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities that help to diversify our offerings including forging new initiatives and partnerships
  • Assist in the development of ‘’in-house strategic investments portfolio’’ which will focus on investing in start-up businesses that may be of strategic value to future of the company
  • Establish processes and strategies to enhance connectivity between the executives, the lines of businesses and the partners
  • Perform financial analysis and prepare executive briefs
  • Develop, maintain and expand relationships between stakeholders, investment targets, partners and increase the visibility within the organization
  • Articulate and leverage the value of partnering with our organization
  • Define and establish a roadmap for strategic investments
  • Hold regular meetings and facilitate discussions internally to bolster connectivity and transparency within the organization and with key partners
  • Assist on investment and acquisition of target companies active in markets pursued


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or actuarial
  • Master’s degree in finance considered an asset
  • CFA designation considered an asset
  • 7 to 10 years of meaningful experience in business development, private investments, mergers and acquisitions or other relevant expertise
  • Technology enthusiast, passionate about the fintech-insurtech industry
  • People oriented, able to connect and to build long-lasting relationships
  • Adaptable, able to pivot rapidly in response to market demands and needs and thrive in a fluid and dynamic work environment
  • Strategic thinking, able to quickly understand our partners vision and identify key motivators and opportunities
  • Customer centric, focused on clients needs and addresses unmeet needs through executing on growth opportunities
  • Values team work
  • Good knowledge of iA Financial Group and the financial sector industry considered an asset
  • Ability to carry out several files at the same time
  • Excellent English and French language skills, both oral and written, due to regular interaction with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal and external partners across Canada.
