Position overview and responsibilities

The Senior Web Developer, Digital Marketing will work collaboratively across various teams, supporting digital activity, using best in class tools to ensure success across web development and campaign delivery, including its performance. Reporting to the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, iA Wealth, the Senior Web Developer, Digital Marketing is responsible for creating templates and features (e.g. digital metrics, data integration, etc.), investigating and fixing existing problems, improving the code base, writing acceptance testing cases, as well as implementing new technologies. This role is key in working with internal and external resources to bridge the gap between design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

Key responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of CMS and digital marketing  platforms, and how to implement such requirements in line with other iA Wealth and iA Financial Group technologies
  • Build and maintain front-end code / JSON API integrations for a variety of internal and external digital channels
  • Work on front-end development activities, solutions, methods, and practices
  • Develop new and effective interactive and responsive GUI solutions on time and in scope
  • Develop and maintain email marketing templates for use in marketing automation software, as well as Outlook
  • Collaborate with team to deliver on new business initiatives and platform enhancements
  • Support the relationship with third party developers, provide in-house QA, ensure deliverables received on time and meet specifications
  • Develop and enforce methodologies, standards, documentation and best practices for the group
  • Setup project development environments and supervise deployments with release notes
  • Research and recommend appropriate interactive technologies
  • Develop reusable code libraries; maintain source control
  • Prepare and execute demos and training sessions on the technical solution
  • Conduct code walkthroughs and quality assurance with other development teams
  • Advise on the technical solution, while owning the implementation
  • Develop WCAG 2.0 accessible code and frameworks for AODA compliant digital experiences
  • Development and implementation of all website metrics tracking scripts and custom reporting dashboards with Google Analytics, Sitefinty DEC and any digital analytics tools

Knowledge, experience, skills and expertise

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or relevant technical education
  • 5+ years of experience with website development, focusing on front-end / CMS technologies, in the public online space is required
  • Experience designing and building business and data layers and functional libraries
  • Experience with creating and consuming web services
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and development
  • Knowledge of agile principles – scrum, backlog, etc.
  • Fluency in data privacy requirements, ( PIPEDA, CASL, GDPR) and other jurisdiction mandate
  • Knowledge of ALM tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Git, etc.)
  • HTML 5, CSS 3/GIT/SASS, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS Grid frameworks, Bootstrap and responsive design experience required
  • Proficiency with Visual Studio, C# .NET using MVC / Razor templates. Knowledge of multi-platform delivery strategies required (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Proficiency with cross browser issues, Digital Accessibility and SEO experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Indesign for adapting design templates to web designs
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms
  • Full-stack development experience is required
  • Understanding of JSON and REST as it pertains to web APIs
  • Understanding of server and client-side caching technologies.
  • Strong experience with Sitefinity or other MVC .NET CMS systems.
  • Strong experience with Kendo UI framework and asset.
  • Understanding of Cloud API / Applications in an Azure Environment, Act-On Email Management, Google Analytics, Microsoft Office, Absorb LMS and with proprietary CRMs
  • Windows web hosting / cloud hosting technology experience with Azure an asset
  • Experience working within entrepreneurial fast paced environment preferred
  • Ability to self-manage web projects with multiple tasks and switch priorities and focuses as needed
  • Ability to work well in an integrated team environment
  • Detail oriented individual with the ability to see things holistically
  • Data driven, strategic thinker with excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Drive and commitment to deliver a high-quality service to internal stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
