iA Financial Group announces a reorganization of the management of two business units

iA Financial Group today announces a growth-oriented reorganization of the management of two of its business units. Mr. Sean O’Brien becomes Executive Vice-President, Wealth Management to replace Mr. Carl Mustos who left the company to take up new challenges. Mr. O’Brien was until now Executive Vice-President, Dealer Services and Special Risks.

Mr. François Blais, who held the position of President of iA Auto and Home Insurance and Prysm General Insurance, becomes Executive Vice-President of Dealer Services and Special Risks. These changes are effective immediately.

“It is for us a growth-oriented reorganization that will position iA Financial Group even better in the Canadian Wealth Management market and address future challenges in this industry”, stated Mike L. Stickney, Executive Vice-President and Chief Growth Officer at iA Financial Group. “Sean and François will bring their expertise and leadership to Individual Wealth Management and Dealer Services and Special Risks units respectively.”

Sean O’Brien is a strong entrepreneur who has developed a true passion for growing businesses. He has been Chief Operating Officer at Ontario‐based CTL Corp., the largest privately‐owned consumer vehicle finance company in Canada. CTL was acquired by iA Financial Group in October 2015. Subsequently, Mr. O’Brien was successively appointed to the positions of President of iA Auto Finance and Executive Vice-President, Dealer Services and Special Risks.

Recognized for his ability to combine creativity and rationality, François Blais is a leader who stands out for his unifying ideas that are off the beaten track and lead his team to reinvent itself. François joined iA Auto and Home Insurance in 2004 and has held various positions in the Actuarial Department, including Vice-President. He was the company’s appointed actuary from 2014 to 2016. In May 2017, he took on a new challenge when he became iA Financial Group’s Vice-President and Chief Data and Analytics Officer. He returned to iA Auto and Home Insurance in November 2018 as Chief Operating Officer. He was appointed President of this company in September 2019.

The Individual Wealth Management sector comprises various companies, including iA Clarington Investments and three distribution affiliates: FundEX Investments, Industrial Alliance Securities and Investia Financial Services. Dealer Services and Special Risks offers Canadian automotive dealers comprehensive protection products for all vehicle types and car loan financing. This business unit also provides creative insurance solutions to match the needs of unique groups.
