This role serves as a linchpin between business needs, modernization initiatives, and technological solutions to ensure consistency, alignment, and value creation.


Scope of Work

The role is responsible for defining, guiding, and making decisions on major strategic directions related to unstructured data.

Specifically, the person will:

  • Define and champion an integrated vision for unstructured data management, aligned with business objectives
  • Make strategic decisions on preferred solutions, particularly in relation to XECM and Horizon initiatives
  • Establish governance principles and guiding frameworks applicable to all teams
  • Prioritize foundational use cases and make decisions when multiple options are available
  • Ensure that initiatives converge toward a coherent and sustainable goal

What You’ll Accomplish with Us

  • The Product Manager acts as a cross-functional decision-maker on strategic direction, responsible for overall consistency.
  • They determine strategic direction and key priorities
  • They align stakeholders around these decisions
  • They mediate issues requiring consensus
  • They ensure that decisions are translated into concrete initiatives

Delivery teams (PM, PO, architecture) remain responsible for execution, detailed design, and delivery.


Collaboration

  • The role involves working closely with:
  • Business teams, to guide priorities and validate value
  • Modernization teams, to align investments and roadmaps
  • IT teams, to ensure the feasibility and integration of solutions
  • Data governance stakeholders, to ensure consistency in practices

Key Challenges

  • Structuring and guiding a field where governance is still emerging
  • Making strategic decisions in a complex and evolving environment
  • Bringing together multiple teams with sometimes divergent priorities
  • Ensuring a balance between speed of execution and sound strategic direction
  • Ensuring clarity and consistency without slowing down initiatives

Expected Deliverables

As a general guideline, this role should lead to:

  • A clear, shared vision for unstructured data management
  • Formal guidelines used to inform decision-making
  • Clear trade-offs regarding solutions and priorities
  • Greater consistency among initiatives (including XECM)
  • A recognized point of reference for decisions related to unstructured data

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Has a cross-functional perspective and an understanding of business and technology issues
  • Exercises strong, influential leadership with department heads and senior management
  • Demonstrates courage in their positions and rigor in their decision-making
  • Is capable of driving projects forward in a practical way, without creating unnecessary red tape
  • Has an advanced level of English proficiency, as the person will be required to communicate daily with English- and French-speaking clients and partners across Canada via email and phone calls.
