Support Individual Insurance underwriters and improve the experience of insurance advisors as a resource person and participate in a variety of process improvement and development projects.

More specifically, you will:

  • Provide answers and solutions to MGAs and the sales force on underwriting issues (explanation of decisions, questions on processes or underwriting rules, resolution of complex underwriting case issues, etc.) to facilitate the progression of complex files, by phone or by email
  • Perform preliminary analyses of underwriting files to generate new business
  • Coach and train underwriters as a resource person
  • Regularly participate in activities to monitor and control the quality of the underwriters’ work by verifying the decisions made by sampling
  • Recommend the implementation of new and/or improved underwriting guidelines and rules following evaluations and feedback from the field (medical or non-medical)
  • Take ownership of various improvement requests related to underwriting and perform change management with underwriters
  • Collaborate closely with iA’s distribution teams to understand developments in the Canadian market and proactively respond to identified needs using an established process​
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement according to MGA feedback for New Business and Underwriting operations​
  • Conduct presentations and training sessions on underwriting topics to MGAs and advisors concerning iA’s underwriting philosophy, new guidelines or clarifications to existing guidelines
  • Ensure relationship-building with networks

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree (BA) and/or 8-10 years of relevant experience in underwriting
  • Excellent English and French language skills, both oral and written, due to frequent interaction with internal/external English- and French-speaking colleagues and partners across Canada
  • ALU designation (an asset)
  • FLMI designation (an asset)
