How your role contributes to the success of the business
The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for all Company federal, state, and local tax matters, including coordination external tax advisors, iA parent Company, and other iAAWG departments as necessary. Tax matters include timely and accurate compliance, planning, regulatory audits/inquiries, and process efficiency realization.

This position provides team support, resolution of complex issues, implement standards and approaches, support planning, and support internal external client relationships. Senior Tax Accountant works closely with other accounting staff to reconcile accounts and review quarterly or annual reports.

Day in your Life

  • Ensures that applicable federal and state income tax, sales tax, excise tax, and property tax returns are filed and payments are made in a timely manner and in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates information exchange with outside tax advisors.
  • Coordinates with iA tax department and other iA entities as necessary.
  • Prepares monthly complete statutory and IFRS current and deferred tax provisions.
  • Responsible for preparation of statutory tax note reporting for annual statement, MD&A, and audit report.
  • Responsible for preparation of IFRS tax note reporting for the audit report.
  • Prepares estimated federal and state tax payment calculations and payments as needed.
  • Reconciles tax accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Handles tax correspondence received from federal and state regulators and attorneys.
  • Develops programs to automate job functions.
  • Conducts research on tax matters as needed, using the internet and other reference materials.
  • Cooperates with the Company’s external auditors and examiners.
  • Assists with other analytical projects.
  • Serves as an expert tax resource in all areas of the accounting department to aid in answering questions.

You have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of statutory, GAAP, and tax accounting experience, preferably with some experience in the insurance business.
