Ontario Bar / Common Law / Litigation / Employment Matters / Working from home
You will be a part of a dynamic, national legal department serving our business lines and subsidiaries. You will represent the company in litigation and manage external counsel in litigation. Although litigation work will be a key focus of the work you will be handling, you will also provide legal opinions and advice in employment law related matters. This is a contract position that can start as soon as possible and will end in early 2025.
The Ideal Candidate:
As the ideal candidate you will be called to the Ontario Bar* and enjoy working in a flexible, inclusive and collaborative team environment. You are someone who:
Has at least 3 to 5 years experience in life, disability or accident insurance litigation.
Has experience in employment law, including drafting agreements, conducting workplace. investigations, and providing general HR related advice including in litigation.
Demonstrates strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
Can balance priorities under tight deadlines.
Has learning agility, a strong work ethic, initiative, and a client-service orientation.
Can communicate complex legal issues using simple, non-legal language.
Seeks the flexibility of a hybrid work environment.
Has excellent communication skills (French language skills will be an asset to your application).
Has experience working in a Lean Management environment.
Has experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
