Underwriter / FALU / Bilingual / Life insurance / Critical illness / Disability / Across Canada
Reporting to the Manager of the Partnership Team, the Underwriting Consultant is an expert who supports MGAs and the sales force with regard to life, critical illness and disability insurance files. The candidate demonstrates exceptional skill in communicating and underwriting risks at all levels, including medical and non-medical factors, medical requirements, reinsurance practices, complex sales concepts and financial undwerwriting.

Your roles will be:
Evaluate and analyze the most complex individual insurance applications for life insurance, critical illness insurance and disability insurance products for cases brought to your attention;
Provide the most competitive pricing decisions, considering relationship with MGA and pricing guidelines.
Development of Sales Force skills:
Provide answers to MGAs and sales force issues (explanation of decisions, questions on UW processes or rules, etc.) to facilitate the progression of complex files, by phone or email.
Perform a preliminary analysis of underwriting files
Participate in meetings with the sales force Work closely with the iA distribution teams to understand the evolution of the Canadian market and proactively respond to identified needs
Promote tools adoption and provide training to MGAs on new business processes and underwriting guidelines
Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement based on MGA feedback for new business and underwriting operations
Presentation/training on MGA underwriting topics (e.g. new guidelines)
Building relationships with networks
Experience in underwriting, life, critical illness and disability insurance;
Title of Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) or in the process of obtaining;
Good knowledge of underwriting systems and manuals, both for insurers and reinsurers;
Client and advisor focused with a continuous improvement mindset;
Bilingualism (English and French);
Excellent presentation skills;
At ease in learning and applying new technologies
This position is offered 100% remotely, from anywhere in Canada.
