Reporting to the Manager, the Bilingual Compliance Counsel takes part in monitoring the intermediaries of the general agent network (the “Network”) while making sure they meet the regulatory requirements that govern distribution.

In this position, you will be called on to:  

  • Provide a framework for general agents and monitor the business practices of insurance advisors (“advisors”)

  • Draft screening reports following monitoring activities and perform interviews in person or remotely

  • Collaborate on audits and investigations of the business practices of Network advisors and recommend response measures

  • Help develop and implement the training and communication strategy regarding the regulatory requirements that govern distribution

  • Develop and deliver presentations, communiqués and training related to the regulatory requirements that govern distribution

  • Provide support to the various business lines and partners through advice and recommendations related to compliance rules applicable to the distribution of iA financial products and services

  • Take part in development projects of the iA distribution networks

Mandatory qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, administration, finance, or another relevant field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the financial services sector, ideally in the distribution of personal insurance products and services

  • Insurance of persons representative certificate issued by the “Autorité des marchés financiers” or an equivalent certificate issued by a regulator in another province (asset)

  • Bilingual in French and English (verbal and written)

Desired profile

  • Good analytical, synthesis and prioritization skills, and autonomy

  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence others in order to find compromises or solutions to various issues

  • Ability to adapt with flexibility and speed in a constantly evolving environment

  • Strong writing skills in English and French

*Please note this role will require, after the pandemic, to travel in Canada about 15% of the time, for 2 to 3 days in a row. Note a large portion of our general Agents are located in Ontario.
