What you’ll accomplish with us

As a Law Student, you’ll be at the core of our legal operations.

We have 2 positions to fill.

Litigation: The primary objective of this role is to provide administrative and legal support to three lawyers within the common law litigation team. The successful candidate will assist the legal team with organizing, planning, and managing tasks, primarily in support of litigation matters and related legal processes.

HR and Employment matters: The primary objective of this role is to provide administrative and legal support to the employment lawyers within the Transversal Affairs legal team. The successful candidate will assist the legal team with organizing, planning, and managing tasks, primarily in support of lawyers handling HR and Employment matters and related legal processes.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, revising, and distributing written communications and legal correspondence;
  • Drafting, serving, and filing legal documents, including Statements of Defence, Affidavits of Documents, and Motion Records;
  • Conducting  legal research under the supervision of lawyers;
  • Maintaining and updating the Legal Department’s databases and filing systems;
  • Providing administrative support, including invoice processing and basic financial administration;
  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings, training sessions, courses, and internal programs;
  • Managing incoming phone calls, messages, correspondence, and mail for lawyers, as required;
  • Making travel arrangements when necessary;
  • Acting as the department’s primary administrative support during the Executive Legal Secretary’s vacation periods (Litigation).

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is currently enrolled as a Law Student in a university program;
  • Stands out for their clear and concise written and verbal communication skills;
  • Is known for their strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines;
  • Is recognized for their professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Has intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel);
  • Demonstrates a genuine interest in the practice of law (considered an asset);
  • Is available to work 10–15 hours per week during the academic year and full-time during the summer (37.5 hours per week);
  • Is willing to attend the Toronto office on an occasional basis;
  • English proficiency clause (Charter of the French language): Advanced level of English proficiency, as the role involves drafting legal documents, written communications, and collaborating with English-speaking lawyers and internal stakeholders on a regular basis.

The typical hiring range for this position is between 23$/h and 26$/h CAD per year; the base salary offered may vary depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity related to the role.
