Credit Department is to minimize market and credit risk. Credit Analyst plays an integral role of balancing the need to reduce risk with the needs of IA Private Wealth Retail clients. This is done through various tasks and accountabilities. The Credit Analyst will report to the Director of Credit and Risk Management.
Key Accountabilities
- Review the daily reports and activities, including regulatory reporting including, concentration, prohibited securities etc.
- Investigate discrepancies and problems to determine risk and exposure, and make decisions to mitigate risk and financial impact.
- Liaise with internal partners, other IA Private Wealth areas, Legal, Finance, Compliance, Estates, to create policies and procedures and to communicate to clients and employees
- Prepare and/or analyze reports including, option reports, and credit reports
- Conduct due diligence on new and existing clients
- Advise and direct Branch Managers and Department Managers on policy issues on a daily basis, and compliance.
- Ensure all transactions in client’s accounts and the collection of these accounts are in accordance with industry and firm rules and regulations.
- Ensure controls are followed to manage credit and risk exposure if IA Private Wealth accounts and be able to maintain a high level of customer service.
- Complete duties as assigned including compiling and preparing statistics and internal reports, monthly and year end capital requirement reports.
Qualifications
- University degree, Canadian Securities Course (CSC); Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH); Derivatives Fundamental Course (DFC); Options Licensing Course (OLC); Option Supervisor Course; are preferred.
- Experience within the financial brokerage industry especially in an IIROC regulatory environment
- Strong use of Microsoft Office programs, especially excel
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment including the ability to prioritize.
