About the Team
You will be part of the SMIT team, a fun and welcoming group. As a Developer, you will support iA Special Markets in stabilizing their applications and delivering projects to enhance efficiency and scalability. Your role includes the support and maintenance of our existing applications as well as development of new solutions or improvements. Increasing the use of AI, moving to more cloud-based solutions, and finding ways to simplify our processes and technical ecosystem are a few of our key objectives in 2025. Duties
-Understand and validate the needs expressed by the team, in close collaboration with the Product Owner (PO) and/or users.
-Assist in the maintenance and support of over 10 applications, and this may include designing, programming, configuring, and integrating solutions with a “just enough—just in time” mentality.
-Actively participate and initiate discussions between team members, and other experts, to make development choices while ensuring best practices and corporate standards.
-Show constant concern for continuously improving and ensuring the security and confidentiality of digital information.
-Prepare development work for the execution of automated tests.
-Support the execution of other testing and quality assurance activities.
-Perform the required tests throughout the development process, while avoiding service interruptions.
-Implement or use a continuous integration and deployment pipeline.
-Promote and utilize AI, learning platforms, and other tools (like code validation).
-Follow established best practices and corporate standards and suggest improvements whenever possible.
-Provide technical support for the software solution once put into production (anomalies, maintenance, oversight, etc.).
-Actively contribute to make sure the documentation required for the sustainability of the designed elements exists is valid and kept up to date.
-Actively collaborate in all the team’s activities (e.g. Agile Ceremonies, Team Meetings & Events)
Desired Profile
-Enrolled in a University or College Software Engineering or Computer Science Program;
-Excellent teamwork and communication skills verbal and written (English required; French would be an asset);
-Maintain an in-office presence at the Vancouver Office of at least twice per month
-Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite;
-Detail and results-oriented;
-Demonstrate a learning mindset and foster a safe working environment for open feedback and discussion;
-Curious to continuously learn and explore new approaches and technologies;
-Seeks opportunities to challenge and support the development of others;
-Knowledge of the financial services and insurance industry (an asset)
-Benefit to have any experience with the following (assets);
- Salesforce, SQL Server & DB, Bootstrap, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, SSRS, React, C#, Azure DevOps, Dynatrace, and Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies
- Experience with Mainframe (COBOL, DB2) and/or PowerBuilder applications would be an asset (but not required)
- Power BI.
