IT Support Representative

The IT Support Representative is responsible for providing technical assistance to computer system users (staff and PPI Advisors), troubleshooting issues and resolving problems related to hardware and software, and ensuring that computer systems are running smoothly.  As part of the Helpdesk team, the IT Support Representative works interactively with the Manager, IT, and other IT Support and Network Infrastructure team members.

The primary duties of an IT Support Representative may include:

  • Responding to user requests for technical assistance via phone, email, or in person.

  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.

  • Installing and configuring software and operating systems.

  • Providing support for applications such as Microsoft Office, email clients, and other business-specific software.

  • Troubleshooting network connectivity and issues related to network printers, switches, and routers.

  • Maintaining accurate records of technical issues and solutions.

  • Assisting with equipment inventory management and maintenance.

  • Providing user training and support for technology resources.

  • Collaborating with other IT staff to identify and resolve complex technical problems.

  • Researching and recommending new technology solutions to improve system performance and efficiency.

  • Occasional travel.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field

  • 5 years experience in an IT support role

  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is preferred

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

  • Strong technical background and proficiency in a wide-range of hardware and software technologies

  • Outstanding problem solving ability

  • Self-motivated with outstanding time management, prioritization and organizational skills

  • Effective documentation skills and diligence in ticketing and recording technical information

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Genuine desire to provide superior quality service

  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and proven ability to build relationships

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and moving between projects continuously

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
