Reporting to the Head of Equity Research, the candidate will be responsible for developing complex financial models and publishing research reports, recommendations, and target prices on a diverse range of Canadian-listed companies. Working in conjunction with our Capital Markets Sales & Trading team, the analyst will also actively market investment ideas to institutional investors. The candidate may be based out of either our Toronto, Montreal, or Calgary office.

Summary of key responsibilities:

Take primary responsibility for the analysis of a list of stocks approved by the Head of Research.

Write and present research reports, including supporting Buy/Hold/Sell recommendation and target prices.

Maintain extensive and in-depth communication and relationships with institutional investors.

Use all available resources to develop and support investment recommendations.

Conduct primary research from industry and financial sources.

Create and maintain financial models and industry databases.

Compile and evaluate company and industry data.

Required Profile

CFA charter holder.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in sell-side or buy-side equity research for an institutional audience.

Established relationships with institutional buy-side investors in Canada.

Excellent financial analytical and modelling skills.

In-depth understanding of economic principles and current events in financial markets.

Strong presentation skills.

Strong written and verbal communication capabilities in English.

Written and verbal communication capabilities in French is an asset.

Work experience outside the financial industry is an asset.
