Dawn of the Trump era
2016 was one of political surprises. First, British citizens surprised the world by voting to leave the European Union, which remains one of the biggest socioeconomic projects of the modern era. It was then the Americans’ turn, electing as their leader Donald Trump, a flashy billionaire with no political experience. Looking to the next four years, a fair amount of economic uncertainty lies ahead, given the protectionist tone espoused by Donald Trump during his electoral campaign.
