Ineligible osteopath associations in Ontario

News Release

iA Financial Group (Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc.) regularly reviews provider associations to make sure they meet our eligibility standards.

A review of osteopath associations in Ontario was recently conducted and, effective April 1, 2019, the following associations will no longer be eligible:

  • Ontario Association of Osteopathic Practitioners (OAOP)
  • Ontario Federation of Osteopathic Professionals (OFOP)
  • Ontario Council of Drugless Osteopathy (OCDO)
  • Ontario Professional Association of Osteopathic Medicine (OPAOM)

When we identify an association as ineligible, this means the providers who are members of this association are also ineligible. It does not mean a plan member cannot continue to see them; however, the fees for their services are not eligible for reimbursement.

The grace period for services received from osteopaths who are members of these associations will end on March 31, 2019. All claims for fees incurred on or after April 1, 2019 will be denied.
