National health and dental benefits fraud awareness campaign

Communiqué

While three out of four Canadians underestimate the consequences of health and dental benefits fraud1, it is a threat to the integrity and sustainability of group insurance benefits plans.

It is with this in mind that the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA), of which iA Financial Group (Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc.) is a member, launched its national health and dental benefits fraud awareness campaign on October 31, 2018.

This initiative is part of the industry's goal to help Canadians recognize fraud, understand how to avoid becoming involved in fraudulent activities and increase awareness that fraud is a crime and has real consequences.

Health and dental benefits fraud affects us all: the significant costs it represents put pressure on both affordability and, ultimately, accessibility to the various protections offered.

All of us, insurers, plan sponsors and plan members, have a role to play in countering fraud.
