Detailed invoices are now available in Quebec pharmacies

News Release

Further to the adoption of Bill 921, Quebec pharmacists are required to provide a new invoice to clients since Friday, September 15th. The main purpose of this invoice is to improve transparency regarding the price paid for each prescription drug and to give consumers the opportunity to save money.

Instead of showing only the total amount, the detailed invoice issued in Quebec pharmacies now shows the following information, which makes up the invoice total:
  1. The price of the drug
  2. The wholesaler profit margin
  3. The pharmacist’s fees (professional fees and other applicable fees for each service provided)

Reminder: Better understanding the price of your prescription drugs
Last month, you received a communiqué about the detailed invoice, to which a memo to your employees was attached. Thank you for sending this memo to your employees. If you decided to hold off on sending it, there is still time and we strongly encourage you to do so!

Where can you easily find this memo?
  • Click here to download the PDF
  • Your employees can also find it in the News section, in the plan members’ My Client Space

The cost of prescription drugs varies considerably from one pharmacy to another. Thus, encouraging your employees to pay special attention could help them, and your plan, save money!

If you have any questions, please contact your advisor or your iA Financial Group (Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc.) Account Executive.

Note: This communiqué reflects the situation as we know it. Changes may be made before or after the date these detailed invoices are to go into circulation.
