Encourage your employees to better understand the price of their prescription drugs

News Release

This news applies to you if you have plan members residing in Quebec.

Further to the publication of our article entitled “Quebec pharmacists will be required to provide a more detailed invoice” on July 24, 2017, we want to provide you with information to share with your employees.

A detailed invoice that can help with savings

With the adoption of Bill 921, Quebec pharmacists will be required to provide a new invoice to their clients starting September 15, 2017. Instead of showing only a total amount, the new invoice must also show the various costs making up the total amount:
  1. The price of the drug
  2. The wholesaler profit margin
  3. The pharmacist’s fees (professional fees and other applicable fees for each service provided)

By having access to this information, your employees, especially those who take prescription drugs on a regular basis, could realize savings. In fact, prices vary from one pharmacy to another and can even vary between those under the same banner.

Informing your employees pays off!
Download here a communication to your employees with information about this new detailed invoice, the potential savings for them and their plan, and the tools available to make it easier to search for prescription drugs. We strongly recommend that you share this information with them (as is or copied on your company’s letterhead or email).

If you have any questions, please contact your advisor or your iA Financial Group (Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc.) Account Executive.

Note: This communiqué presents the situation as we currently know it. Changes may occur before or after the expected in-force date of
the new invoice.
